I became a live-in carer for my landlady. I shared the house with her. She had no family and when she got ill I slowly started helping her until she was unable to take care of herself any more. Before that, I was a store assistant manager but it was never a job I enjoyed. I have known my landlady for the past 12 years as she was a family friend. Her condition has improved considerably over the last 2 years and I now have more free time. I have no real professional knowledge that can be related to the care field other than the online courses I have been taking to give myself better knowledge and understanding of care and support.

Responsible for the provision of personal and basic health care, assisting clients to gain confidence in the performance of their day to day self care chores, and enabling those unable to do so.

Assists clients with feeding, bathing, and dressing where need be.

Also help in drawing care and executing care plan, dispensing of medications to patients under trained nursing supervision, performance of basic health care task like measuring blood pressure, BM, urinalysis and ECG.

Health Care Assistant, Forest Hill Nursing Home, Buckhurst Hill Essex (2001 – 2004)

Responsibilities included caring for patients basic bodily care needs like cleaning, bathing, feeding clients, washing up dishes after meal times, chatting with clients and provide a listening ear, assisting clients to hospital when unwell, and undertaking any other task delegated by the supervising nursing staff.
